I agree with your observation about being blinded by hate. I am not sure if I would agree with your obsevation about "many" here but certainly there are some. In fact there are some who are even completely oblivious to their hate. I think it comes with the territory especially in a website forum. But in all fairness I have also met JWs who are blind with hate towards anyone who does not subscribe to their beliefs about God. Many of them are oblivious to their own hate too. That too comes with the territory. Hopefully you will be able to appreciate those here who clearly do not have hate but do have issues with the way they were treated (or in some cases continue to be treated) by either certain JWs, elders or the WT itself.

I am no fan of the Organization ,but i feel they would not (99%of the time any way)knowingly allow Child molesters in their midst.
But according to testimonials they have. What you are saying Fleaman is that your experiences with the WT lead you to believe that these people are all liars. Many of us have had different experiences than you. You are very fortunate to not have had these types of bad experiences. It's good that inpite of that you are here with an open mind at JWD to share your thoughts with others.

The CANADIAN branch has never used their lawyers to defend Pedophiles directly
With all due respect Uzzah, I do not agree with that statement. They may not be lawyer of record for the abuser but if they are providing legal advise whether it is over the phone or through elders to the abuser does that not qualify as offering direct legal help in a defence for the abuser?

I can't tell you what your attitude should be as this is your story. I can tell you that as a reader of your article my attention will be gained if I feel you are being honest and sharing your experience and, as Randy mentioned, if you can inject a dose of humour or be witty it will make for a better read.
If you think this could be an emotional experience and could block your expressions than make some notes in advance on certain points that you think will be discussed.

Are JWs "Approval Whores"?
by Scully induring a quiet moment at work the other night, i picked up a back issue of o magazine, one of the current quintessentially authoritative journalistic voices of the modern north american woman.
it was the december 2003 issue, and i was intrigued by the title of the article: "the halo effect" which promised to examine the condition of 'being too good' for one's own good.
the preamble contained the phrase "self-sacrificing" and i was immediately zapped by that standard jw buzz-word and the article's suggestion that being "self-sacrificing" is not all it's cracked up to be.. you can read the article here: stop seeking approval.

That's a very good point to raise Special K. This X-mas thing becomes an issue for everyone sooner or later. I have always celebrated Christmas and it was never an issue until me and my siblings became adults and the family expanded with in-laws etc. Sooner or later you come to a point where you have to weed out who you will visit, who you will simply send a card to and who actually gets a present.
This is what I do (I don't know if it will help but maybe others will have suggestions too):
-send everyone a card that way if you don't get a chance to see them in person your ass is covered.
-don't spread yourself thin on Christmas...keep it to one household (home) and maybe one visit to a nearby relative. Save others visits for another day like the day after Christmas.
-buying presents becomes a major hassle when families expand because it takes alot of time in the stores shopping and at Christmas it's already busy in stores. Mostly, present giving is fun for the children. Once one becomes an adult they realize the most important thing about Christmas is sharing time with loved ones (presents are fun too but they are secondary). Reserve your time for present shopping for the children. For the adults and extended family do a "Chris Kringle" i.e. you put names in a hat and everyone draws only one name. This is a massive savings of time. Also everyone has to agree on a dollar maximum for the Chris Kringle and stick to it. Instead of shopping for 5 or 6 in an extended family you are now shopping for only 1. At first it may feel strange but once you realize that every year you are finished your shopping early and can actually enjoy the season you will love it and everyone else probably will too.

I don't know if you live close to your Mom but if you do take her out to dinner. Maybe she'll be able to relax and get her mind of the crap for a bit.

Two faced lying hypocrites
by Uzzah ini just came across this link advertising an award dinner by the canadian bar association.. http://www.cba.org/cba/news/2004_releases/2004-08-17_probono.asp.
it announces shane brady of georgetown (bethelite) as the winner of the probone award for 2004. i'll let the announcement speak for itself.. .
what burns me is that the brady is on a vow of poverty, and gets his marching orders from bethel.

I think it's more than that Scully, it could in fact be WT who is incurring the expenses in which case should it have been WT being nominated but that would be kind of ridiculous handing a pro bono award to a billion dollar corp. wouldn't it?
Bottom line is we need to find out what are the specific criteria for the Canadian Bar Association that qualifies the pro bono designation. I suspect, as someone has already mentioned in this thread, that this was staged as a means of distancing the lawyer from the WT. Since Lawrence is suing the lawyer, liability of WT could come into question if it is found that they were fully supporting his efforts and he interfered with the minor's decision making process. I think someone has hit the nail on the head with the suggestion that this could be a means of (falsely?) claiming that the lawyer was acting on his own.

Captives of a concept - a must read
by startingover ini downloaded a copy of this book (which btw is the best $5 i have ever spent) and finished reading it last night.
although i knew much of the info already, it is presented in a way that pinpoints the real issues.
to me, the 607 issue up has been most important, as it destroys the claim of being selected as the fds, but this book destroys that claim from a different angle.

ON the JW WIS site the author made a post a couple of days ago touting his book. I took a look at the website and got some info on the book. It looks like it could be good for some who are struggling with the WT demons.

Good for Lawrence.
I was reading a poem allegedly written by Lawrence's daughter 2 days before she passed away. I found it on the internet and would rather not post it incase Lawrence browses here; it may bring back sad feelings. Clearly though I think this goes far beyond them threatening her with damnation. From the words in her poem it looks to me that she was lied to about the fact that she was going to die.
